Incepted in 2004, this initiative was specifically designed to support the academic endeavors of the children of active government employees. The primary goal is to foster and applaud the accomplishments of gifted students in their Board and University exams, ultimately recognizing their academic excellence. Initially targeting the top ten position holders, the merit scholarship program has undergone successive enhancements to accommodate the growing pool of talented candidates. The most recent upgrade occurred in March 2021. The Merit Scholarship is exclusively available for the children of regular contributors to the Benevolent Fund within the provincial government. To qualify, applicants must have achieved a minimum of 1st Division.
Within this program, distinct categories such as Science, Arts, MBBS, Engineering, LLB, and Veterinary Science are established. The allocation of quotas for each sub-category is determined by the proportionate number of applications, promoting fair competition.
Applications are accepted at the close of each calendar year, and the approval of grants is contingent upon final results. It’s essential to note that recipients of the Merit Scholarship cannot concurrently receive other scholarships.
Prospective applicants must ensure that their scholarship forms are duly verified by the Head of the Institution and submitted through the relevant department head. The application form should be completed in CAPITAL LETTERS, providing all necessary information. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
